Trash collection in Spring Creek Forest is handled by Waste Management. The collection days are Tuesday and Friday. Our collection service calls for BACK DOOR pickup of household garbage and grass clippings. This keeps the neighborhood looking nicer since we do not have trash cans out by the street. It is also a great convenience to our residents.

Recycling:

Our trash service includes recycling of certain materials. Pickup of recycling materials is on Tuesdays. Items that can be recycled include: newsprint, aluminum cans and plastic. Materials to be recycled should be placed in the USA Waste recycling bin and the bin should be placed at the curb.

There are many materials that are not included in our recycling program. Magazines, Telephone Books and other paper products are not included. Newsprint means newspapers, only. Wet newspapers cannot be accepted so you should put the newspapers in paper or plastic bags to keep them dry.

Aluminum cans should be rinsed and flattened to save space.

Plastic bottles should be the ones imprinted with the recycling logos (#1 or #2). These usually include most soft drink, milk and water bottles. They should be rinsed out and the larger ones should be flattened to save space.

If you put out materials that are not part of our recycling program, those materials will be left in the bin at the curb.

Tree Trimmings:

All tree trimmings should be bundled and placed at the curb. Bundles should be no more than 4 feet in length, weigh no more than 40 pounds and contain limbs no larger than 4 inches in diameter.

Heavy Trash Pickup:

Bulk pickup (refrigerators, hot water heaters, Christmas trees, etc.) takes place on Fridays. Those items should be placed at the curb for collection.

Holidays:

When a major holiday falls on a scheduled trash pickup day, that trash pickup will be skipped. The next collection will take place on the next scheduled pickup day. That means that when Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday, there will be no trash pickup until Friday of that week. Observed holidays that impact trash collection in Spring Creek Forest include: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Unacceptable Items:

Waste Management does not pick up hazardous waste such as motor oil, gasoline, paint, batteries, lawn and garden chemicals or smoke detectors. This is not a complete list of hazardous materials that cannot be collected but it should give you an idea.

Construction waste including materials generated from remodeling, carpeting or roofing will not be collected. Other items that will not be picked up include automobile tires, tree trunks, automobile body parts and similar items.

Waste Management picks up typical household garbage and refuse. You will need to make other arrangements for items that fall outside that scope of materials.
